Greetings From the Hot and Sunny South of South

I’ve been traveling for the last two weeks in a warm and welcoming country, internationally renowned for its beautiful gulf. People speak Spanish here, which has rendered my language skills largely useless until yesterday’s lunch when I sat across from a charming French couple and was able to chat en français. I find myself excessively tired at the end of each day and have little extra energy to expend. However, I thought I’d share some photos.

  1. Nice photos, thanks. I noticed a couple of occurrences of “Valladolid” in the filenames, but due to the reference to the Gulf, I’m assuming it’s the one in Yucatán, not in Spain. Looks kind of sunny and hot, even in early March. Hope you have a good trip.

    • Why am I not surprised by your sleuthing prowess Infidel? Ha!

Yes, it is very hot here. Over 90 most days. Fine by me. I’m even willing to walk in that heat. I think after living here a few months, however, I’d suffer from the same kind of depression you described as descending upon residents of Antarctica.

  2. Super que tu as eu l’occasion de pratiquer ton français !

  3. Sounds lovely. So you’re on our side of the border? Pacific or Gulf of MEXICO?
    Enjoy.

    • The gulf. Yucatán peninsula. Swam in the gulf and took a dip in a cenote. Maintenant dans le Tren Maya pour le retour.

      • How lovely. I did a summer course in Maya Anthropology centuries ago. Loved it. Though my adviser never accepted I use the credits for my MBA.
Look forward to hearing about the Tren Maya.
        Au revoir.

  4. Thank you for sharing your perceptions of how you, as an engineer, see the world. I’m not really conscious of vertical or horizontal when I take pictures. But you’ve produced some very appealing images that convey Mexican culture.

  5. Lovely photos, and how nice to have time away from the current chaos we’re living through in the US. I also enjoyed the groupings arranged by their horizontal and vertical status.
