C’est un article excellent, Carol! Quelle belle et vraie recherche! Merci!
Merci Mijo.
Another fascinating story. Valentin’s efforts were extraordinary—perhaps lethally so. But the entire concept of people with enduring obsession, really, makes me wonder where else such a phenomenon would occur. The quest for a thing of value would probably take place in many locales, but the puzzle? And the time involved?
‘Tis a puzzle, for sure.

Thanks Lory!
I am Jack Hill, the owner of the Picasso portrait of Kiki that you posted in your article. My father was Roland E. Hill, who later became the designer of the Disneyland castle. He was actually in a relationship with Kiki during most of the year 1923, pace all of the historians who were not primary sources. Among his other friends were Man Ray and Pablo Picasso, both of whom gave him portraits of Kiki. I have all of this documented in his daily journal entries, which I intend to post soon on the rongwrong Facebook site, along with scans of some of the drawings by both artists.
That’s very interesting Jack. Thanks for contacting me. I can’t imagine what might be involved in trying to prove that you possess an original Picasso. How wonderful that your father kept a journal. What a treasure for your and your descendants. Good luck!
