Il a tout dit ! Bonne année !
À toi aussi Emma!
Such a beautiful post, Carol, thanks for sharing this gem. May you & yours in the coming new year experience an abundance of Jubilation, Bonnes choses & Santé. Bonne année!
Merci Gene, à vous aussi.
Perhaps only a Frenchman would think to wish us a year of style…..
Happy new year! And thanks for closing this one with all the positive words.
Ha! You zeroed in on one of the trickier translations of this post. In general, avoir de la veine means having good luck but since there were other words expressing this sentiment, I chose a secondary definition.
You may not think of yourself as stylish Infidel but in the intended context, I’d say you have de la veine because you have a very consistent style/manner to which you remain true.
Bonne année mon ami.
This is a delightful post, Carol. I wish you and your loved ones all the same.
A votre sante!
Annie
Merci Annie, Cheers
And here’s hoping WordPress will recognize me on your blog in 2025!
Doigts croisés
Le Chat est toujours charmant. Et toi aussi.
Tous mes voeux Carol. To you and yours…
What a year overflowing with good things! Je te souhaite Bonne Année, avec beaucoup de délices et douceur.
Merci Lory, à toi aussi.
Always grateful for your French lessons. And lately I’m also following a French news site on Blu Sky and finding I’m learning a few things.
Good to know. I followed several useful and entertaining French sources on Twitter but have been reluctant to dive back into social media, even on a new platform.

Happy New Year! Bol fromage avec le grand lit. Apologies, my French is truly awful.
Ha! I’ll take it. Believe it or not I’ve been sleeping in the same bed for 50 years. One of the feet broke off about 8 years ago and that corner of the frame is propped up with a thick Microsoft Windows manual.
That’s a serious claim to fame right there! Worthy of a blog post.
thanks for visiting my site. I would be thrilled if you’d write a guest blog post for my site. If you think it might be fun or helpful to have my followers (who total about 10k across my various social media) meet you, here’s the link for general guidelines:
